Exile is another place that some cards go, and some cards send things. The flavour of it is that the graveyard is where dead creatures and used-up spells go, while exile is like “not in the game anymore” even though some things can get stuff back from there.
Then, can you exile a Planeswalker?
You can’t. They have the first chance to play something after the planeswalker resolves and once the ability is on the stack it will resolve even if the planeswalker is removed in response.

Outside of making the creature die, there are numerous other ways to deal with an Indestructible threat that don’t put the card in the graveyard but they can do the job just as well depending on the situation. Indestructibility does not stop cards from being: Exiled.
