Learning how to get Self Confidence is the key to being successful in your personal and professional life. The more confident you are, the better you will perform in life. Its all about your self image, your thoughts on a continues basis. Its an internal war, and if you can master your thoughts on an emotional subconscious level, you will feel unstoppable. Lets get this sucker started and get you programmed for success.


1) Stop Comparing Yourself to Others:

Do you constantly compare yourself to others? Do you wish you had hair like Jenny or a body like Jim? Do you compare your own achievements to others? If you are constantly trying to balance the scale with another person, you are never going to have self-confidence.

That confident guy at work who always seems to have it together is not you. His success does not negate your own. When you can fully grasp this concept, you will be able to work on yourself and being the best you that you can possibly be.

Your goal is to be the best “you” not the best someone else. Gaining confidence in yourself means focusing on the best attributes you have. Don’t merely focus on the physical, but also think about your intelligence, personality and anything else you are happy with. List them if you have to and add to the list as you find new areas of yourself to be happy about.

2) Step Out of Your Comfort Zone and Take Action:

What areas of your life are you lacking confidence in? Is it your appearance? Do you lack confidence in speaking with others? Do you find it hard to meet new people? Many people who lack self-confidence often try to avoid that which makes them stretch their comfort zone.

If you always stay in your comfort zone, you will never gain confidence because you will constantly put out the same to get the same. The more you practice what makes you uncomfortable, the better you will become at it.

If you lack confidence speaking to others, make a plan to begin doing it as much as possible. Speak to strangers. Speak to people at work…talk to the parking lot attendant…speak with the lady at the drive-thru. When you begin to see you can be successful outside of your comfort zone, you will be amazed at how this can help you gain confidence in every area of your life.

3) Stop Slouching:

Why did Mom always seem to be on you about sitting or standing up straight? Most Moms have told their children posture is important. Have you ever watched a graceful ballerina as she performed her perfect routine?

A person’s spine is the center of their universe. It is the axis on which your world rotates. If you are slouching and have poor posture, I can guarantee you that you are not going to feel as confident as you do when your shoulders are pulled back and your spine is straight.

Try it now…I want you to get up and walk across the room a couple of times with your shoulders slouched. Make a mental note of the feelings you are feeling.

Now, walk with your head held high, shoulders back and spine straight. Do you feel that? Do you feel that immediate feeling of change that comes over you? Many research studies have proven standing up straighter creates positive thoughts and feelings of better self-esteem. Focus on keeping your spine straight and protected and see the changes taking place.

4) What Team are You Cheering For:

Those who become their own cheerleader are much more likely to feel confident than those who only cheer on others’ successes. When you use affirmations to build yourself up, you are less likely to focus on your failures. As you see success occurring because of your affirmations, this can help build a habit of positivity.

No, you don’t have to get your pom-poms out (but you can!). You simply need to start cheering for the home team (which is you). Celebrate every little success, no matter how small. When you begin to do this, you will see changes to your self-confidence. Eventually, the negative portrayal of yourself will be changed to a positive one.

5) Who Would Play You In A Movie Based on Your Life:

Have you ever considered who would play the role of you in a movie based on your life? What famous actor or actress would you love to see cast in the role? You may wonder why I would be asking a seemingly silly question…let me explain.

I want you to sit down and write down the person you chose. I then want you to list why you choose them. What characteristics make them perfect for the role? Did you choose them because you wish you looked like them or had their wealth?

Now, I want you to list all of the positive attributes you find them to have. I promise you there is a reason behind this madness!

Once you have listed these attributes, I want you to then list your own positives. Those that match your star’s attributes can be crossed off. What you are left with needs to become your affirmation statements.

Suppose your star’s attributes stated beautiful, wealthy, successful …turn this into affirmations for yourself.

* “I am beautiful!”

* “I am wealthy!”

* “I am successful!”

It’s all about the “I am” statements! Start speaking these affirmations with feeling and with conviction. Speak them over your life and begin to see yourself evolving…changing. Think I have lost my mind? Give it a try and see how it will change your confidence levels!

I am not here to try and convince you life is one big rainbow ride. The truth is, we all experience dips in our confidence. Read a few interviews from big celebrities and you will see even they are not immune. What I want you to grasp from this information is that you CAN change your confidence. You are not stuck with what you have right now!

Self-confidence begins with loving yourself and all your faults. When you can begin to truly embrace the real you and see yourself through the eyes of a mind that is not limited by old beliefs, nothing will be impossible for you!

You are a work in progress and each day presents a new opportunity to make positive changes in your life.     Great tips.

    To me Self confidence starts with your Self Talk – that little conversation you’re constantly having in your head with yourself.

    If you’re conversation is constantly negative – then a negative self image will be what you get and in turn your confidence level will be negative and low as well.

    However it works in the exact opposite way. Positive self talk, positive self image and confidence.

    I also know that your confidence can be determined by the questions you ask yourself on a regular basis.

    When you’re about to do something or if a challenge arises, the questions you ask yourself at that moment will determine your level of confidence.

    So when you have a challenge instead of saying “why does this always happen to me?” – which will destroy your confidence.

    Ask yourself this question: “How can I solve this challenge and have fun doing it?” Confidence level is far higher simply because you asked yourself a better question.

    Better questions will always give you better answers.

    In point 5 you speak of affirmations, this is great because another confidence builder is “focus”

    Simply put “What you focus on is what you get”.

    Will we always fell confident? Of course not – but with the right tools and skills you can easily overcome those times when you don’t.

  2. Self confidence is really important. I am a shy person, but I try my best to be more confident in doing anything in my life. I love your tips here, they are awesome and will definitely help others.
