10 Tips On How To Be More Outgoing – For Real?

how to be more outgoingIf you are a shy and closed person, becoming more open and communicative is a great idea to really simplify your life and build relationships with other people.

In fact, in order to become a more sociable person and interesting to talk to, first, you need to change your attitude to yourself and to the world. You need to believe in yourself and to trust people more. And only then learn to start and keep up a dialogue with the interlocutor. It’s pretty simple.

1) Smile And Be Open:

Be open to meet and talk with other people. It does not matter if it will be your friends, relatives, colleagues or even strangers.

Smile more often, smile at work, at school, on a walk, everywhere. See how a smile will create a positive mood, and you and people around you will be ready for a pleasant conversation. Will a smile help you to be an interesting and pleasant companion? Of course, after all, it would be nice to talk with someone who is smiling to you.

2) Ask Questions:

Your friends, who are working on the same project with you and those people who attend the same classes as you. They are simply ideal candidates to answer your questions.

You can ask your classmate a question, which will be about teacher, classes, schedule, homework, or term papers. If you do not know how to be more sociable, feel free to ask your colleagues at work. Ask about the date of the deadline, or ask for help to understand something.

3) Don’t Sit At Home:

Nobody is going to seek your friendship, sitting on the couch. Maybe except your dog. Take a walk to the nearest café. Bring a book. Not to bury your nose in it. It will be an additional topic for interesting conversation. Look around, make eye contact and tie a conversation with someone who sits next to you.

You can start a fascinating conversation anywhere and with anyone. Therefore, be a sociable and interesting person and companion. Go to the clubs, sign up for dance classes or start learning a foreign language.

4) Work On Yourself:

How do you want to learn how to communicate with people and become more interesting, if you are sure that you have a lot of shortcomings, and people will think that you are boring? Understand one simple truth: there are no ideal people.

Each of us has both advantages and disadvantages. Look at all the good things that can attract people to you. This will give you more confidence.

5) Charge Yourself with Optimism:

How do you imagine an outgoing person? A good companion? Most likely, in your presentation it is a smiling positive person with a good sense of humor, right? No one is interested in communicating with those who are always complaining, always in a bad mood.

Even if you have a problem, treat people with humor. Life is beautiful, you really need to notice it, and people will surly like you.

6) Be Witty:

People love to chat with fun and interesting people. Try to be witty and try to have fun with commenting on words of your friend or classmate. Even more, girls love guys who can be interesting in a conversation.

7) Be Attentive To Your Behavior:

A lot of the usual behavior may annoy others. For example constant word-parasites.

For example, you may constantly sniff, rub the back of your head, wave your arms and talk very loudly. It seems that it is a trifle, but in fact, it could alienate many of people. Therefore, before you ask how to become happy and sociable, think, does your behavior sometimes annoy other people.

8) Be Confident:

Lack of confidence not only kills your desire to meet friends or to talk to other people but in general can bring a lot of inconveniences.

Communication is a voluntary process. And, most often, people feel good in the process of information exchange. Be confident in your speech, stick your chest out a little, feel the confidence all over in your body and people will pick up on that vibration your in.

9) Be Consistent:

Even if you’re afraid to talk to other people, you still have to do it. Without it, you just cannot figure out how to become open and sociable. However, the adaptation process can be considerably easier if you act according to the plan. Whats the plan?

First, just get to know the person. Shake hands or just say hello, introduce yourself and ask the name. Start to communicate in a common theme. Then talk to more specific topics. To go to this step, you should already know each other. Only then you can move on to more intimate topics. For example, family relations, and so on.

10) Be A Good Listener:

Same as confidence it is also one of the most important points. To be a good conversationalist, you must not only speak well but also listen well.

People like to be heard. Moreover, almost all suffer from the fact that they cannot fully express themselves. So if you see that someone is telling you something important try to listen carefully and give a piece of advice.

Confidence is what it all comes down too. See yourself being a more outgoing person, and conversing with others easily.

Take the time to really get into this practice of visualizing. Before you know it you will be conditioned to be more outgoing and social. Remember everything starts from the inside out. So starting seeing yourself as you want to be.

  2. This is a really great article. Thanks for sharing these point-form tips about being more outgoing. I personally am a pretty introverted person who has come a long way in the last few years in terms of being social. I got a job waiting tables just to force myself out of my shell. Then, I went backpacking in Central America to do the same. It has helped me immensely, and when I look back, these tips are exactly what I have learned but without any blueprint. Seeing them all laid out perfectly clear here is really helpful and straightforward. Thanks for sharing!

  4. Hi there,

Shyness can be a great barrier in life. Therefore your tips are very valuable. It will be good if one can take one tip and try to practice it for a week. I would also recommend hypnosis as a good resource.

    • Hi Roux

I agree that hypnosis would be a huge help. I’m not all that familiar with it, but I do know that it works. I do more visualization than anything which I guess is kinda like hypnosis. Thanks for stopping by and reading this, I’m glad you think this is valuable.
